A tennis insider recently shared his concerns about Carlos Alcaraz as the latter prepares to return to the court after a four-month injury layoff.
Alcaraz has been sidelined since April after suffering a right wrist injury during his opening-round match against Otto Virtanen at the Barcelona Open. He is now reportedly targeting a return at the Cincinnati Open before competing at the US Open.
While the Spaniard continues his recovery, tennis insider Service Volee voiced his concerns in a video shared on X. He spoke about Alcaraz’s notable absence from the tour and emphasized how important he is in the tennis circuit. The insider also pointed to Alcaraz’s remarkable success at a young age, including his reported purchase of a €9 million yacht, and questioned what would continue to motivate him after already achieving so much so early in his career.
“Alcaraz’s return still seems to be coming soon. We saw him hit the ball this week. But I must admit that I’m still a little worried, because when you won everything at 22, you bought your yacht for 9 million euros, and the only thing left for you is to chase Novak Djokovic’s record of 24 Grand Slams… how do you find the motivation at the bottom of the side to return to combat? And is your body, especially, which has already suffered about fifteen injuries since the beginning of your career, not going to let go yet? So friends, let’s pray in the coming weeks for a smashing and lasting return, because tennis without Alcaraz, we get a little pissed off anyway,” said the insider.
He added:
“Carlos Alcaraz is the most important player on the circuit at the moment. There is zero debate. Put your emotions aside and look the facts in the face. He is the major player of his generation, because no one has his magic, his creativity, no one plays with such a smile, and no one makes the crowds dream so much on a tennis court.”
Even though Carlos Alcaraz is expected to compete at the U.S. Open singles, he was absent from the roster of the tournament’s mixed doubles.
Why did Carlos Alcaraz miss the 2026 Wimbledon Championships?
Carlos Alcaraz missed the 2026 Wimbledon Championships because of his right wrist injury. Before this tournament, he also withdrew from several major tournaments, including the French Open, the HSBC Championships, the Madrid Open, and more. A few days after sustaining the injury, he revealed that he had undergone several medical tests, which confirmed a diagnosis of wrist tenosynovitis.
Taking to Instagram, he shared an update on his injury and announced his withdrawal from Roland Garros. Describing it as a ‘difficult time’ for him, he wrote:
“After the results of the tests carried out today, we have decided that the most prudent thing to do is to be cautious and not participate in Rome or Roland Garros as we wait to evaluate the progress so we can decide when to return to the court. This is a difficult time for me, but I am sure we will come out of it stronger ❤️” said Carlos Alcaraz.
After the Wimbledon Championships, Carlos Alcaraz was forced to pull out from the Canadian Open to focus on his recovery.
