With Roland Garros just around the corner, Novak Djokovic is still on the hunt for his 25th Grand Slam title.

Tim Henman isn’t backing him to add another this time, though, even with three previous wins at the French Open.

Djokovic lost his only clay match of the season so far at the Italian Open, and he’ll turn 39 before the tournament begins.

But it’s never wise to count Djokovic out. His recent choice could be just what he needs to make a deep run in Paris.

Novak Djokovic has added Viktor Troicki to his coaching setup just before the French Open begins, bringing in a familiar face and close friend from Serbia.

This isn’t the first time Djokovic has brought in a former player to help guide his career. He had a brief stint with Andy Murray last year, though it only lasted six months before they parted ways.

This time, however, there’s a deeper connection. Djokovic and Troicki have known each other since their junior days and have spent plenty of time together both on and off the court.

They’ve also played doubles together and were both instrumental in Serbia’s 2010 Davis Cup victory.

Their long-standing relationship could bring some fresh energy to Djokovic’s camp at a crucial moment in his career. He came close to another major title at this year’s Australian Open, but Carlos Alcaraz edged him out in the final.

A new voice might be exactly what he needs. As captain of Serbia’s Davis Cup team, Troicki already holds Djokovic’s respect, which could make this partnership one that lasts beyond just one tournament run.

Djokovic has kept himself busy in Paris ahead of Roland Garros, a tournament he’s won three times before – in 2016, 2021, and 2023.

He’s also been working on his game with practice hits against Alexander Zverev and Marin Cilic, with a session scheduled next against Daniil Medvedev.

The Serbian has also caught up with Gael Monfils, who is playing his final French Open as a wildcard before retiring from the sport.
