List of Players Missing in Canadian Open 2026 Draw, Including Emma Raducanu, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner

The 2026 Canadian Open is nearly underway, with the main draw set to run from August 3 to 13. It marks the first major event of the North American hardcourt swing leading into the US Open. This year, Toronto will host the women’s tournament, while the men will compete in Montréal.

Several top players are set to entertain Canadian fans during the 11-day events, with Alexander Zverev and Félix Auger-Aliassime leading the men’s draw as the top two seeds, while Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina headline the women’s field. Other players featuring in the line-up are Coco Gauff, Ben Shelton, Jessica Pegula, and Taylor Fritz.

Meanwhile, several big names from the men’s and women’s fields will be absent from the tournament. Here is a look at the players who will miss the Canadian Open.

Canadian Open 2026 Withdrawals Featuring Emma Raducanu, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner

Jannik Sinner

Sinner, the 2023 champion, opted to skip the event after winning his second consecutive Wimbledon title. The World No. 1 cited “change of schedule” as the reason for his absence after a grueling campaign in London. He has already started his preparations for the North American swing and plans to compete in Cincinnati.

Carlos Alcaraz

Alcaraz did not feature on the Canadian Open entry list. The Spaniard has been sidelined due to a right wrist injury since mid-April. Of late, he has intensified his training in hopes of returning to full fitness ahead of his Cincinnati Open title defense.

Victoria Mboko

Mboko, the reigning champion at the tournament, did not appear on the entry list. The Canadian teenager has been forced to forgo the 1000 points she earned last year after suffering a knee injury while competing at the Queen’s Club in June. Mboko has completely pulled out of the North American swing, including the US Open.

Hailey Baptiste

Baptiste’s 2026 came to a premature end following a tear in the left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus at the French Open. The American star’s recovery remains on track, with regular updates offering insight into her progress.

Novak Djokovic

Djokovic, like Sinner, withdrew from the Montréal field due to a “change of schedule” after his semifinal run at Wimbledon. The Serb is playing a limited schedule this year and hasn’t contested the title since 2018. He has confirmed his return to competition at the Cincinnati Open.

Alexander Bublik

Bublik plans to skip both ATP Masters 1000 events in Montréal and Cincinnati before the US Open. He was most recently in action on the clay courts of Kitzbühel, where he fell one win short of defending his title. Journalist Ben Rothenberg reported that the Kazakhstani star prefers to miss the pre-US Open swing, as the Cincinnati event coincides with his son’s birthday.

Karolína Muchová

The 2026 Wimbledon finalist Muchová has delayed her hardcourt return after undergoing a “small surgery” in the aftermath of her SW19 appearance. She is missing from the Toronto field but remains listed for the Cincinnati Open.

Emma Raducanu

Raducanu has not competed on the Tour since her run to the final at the Queen’s Club Championships in June. The Brit withdrew from Wimbledon due to a lower right leg stress fracture. She was spotted wearing an orthopedic boot while recovering from the injury. Besides the Canadian Open, Raducanu has also pulled out of the Cincinnati Open.

Other players missing from the main draws in Montréal and Toronto are Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Sebastian Korda, Tomáš Macháč, Jasmine Paolini, Laura Siegemund, Dayana Yastremska, and Petra Marčinko.
