Canadian Open WTA Toronto Draw Featuring Coco Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula Released

The 2026 WTA Canadian Open begins in Toronto with the qualifying rounds on August 1 before the main draw gets underway on August 3 and runs through August 13. The main draw, which was released on Friday, July 31, features 96 players, while the top 32 seeds receive automatic byes to the second round.

Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, and Coco Gauff are seeded first through fourth, respectively. Mirra Andreeva, Linda Nosková, Iga Świątek, and Amanda Anisimova complete the top eight seeds.

Victoria Mboko, the reigning champion, has withdrawn from the tournament due to a knee injury she suffered during the grass-court swing. Other notable players missing in the draw are Karolína Muchová, Jasmine Paolini, Hailey Baptiste, and Emma Raducanu.

Meanwhile, Venus Williams has received a singles wildcard alongside Canadians Bianca Andreescu, Ariana Arseneault, Cadence Brace, Kayla Cross, Rebecca Marino, Katherine Sebov, and Carol Zhao.

Coco Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka, and Jessica Pegula Feature in the Canadian Open 2026 Draw

Sabalenka and Rybakina, the top two seeds, have been placed in opposite halves. Pegula, the two-time champion, has been placed in the World No. 1’s half, while Gauff could face Rybakina in a potential semifinal showdown.

Besides Sabalenka and Pegula, the top half features 2024 finalist Anisimova, 2017 champion Elina Svitolina, 2019 champion Andreescu, Madison Keys, Marta Kostyuk, and Venus Williams. The Belarusian awaits either Cristina Bucșa or a qualifier in the second round. Meanwhile, Pegula, who is presently competing at the Mubadala DC Open, could open her campaign with a rematch against Magdalena Fręch.

In the bottom half, Rybakina begins her campaign against the winner of Wang Xinyu vs. Daria Kasatkina, and Andreeva could be her potential quarterfinal opponent. Gauff, meanwhile, faces either Diane Parry or a qualifier in her opener.

Also present in the half are recently crowned Wimbledon champion Nosková, 2015 champion Belinda Bencic, Alexandra Eala, home favorite Leylah Fernandez, and 2025 finalist Naomi Osaka. While Osaka is currently competing at the WTA 500 event in Washington, D.C., she will have her sights set on doing one better than her Canadian Open result from last year.

The Japanese star is seeded 11th at the WTA 1000 event and faces the winner of Eva Lys vs. Panna Udvardy in her opening second-round match.

The qualifying slots have been finalized, but the qualifiers will be added to the main draw once the qualifying rounds conclude.
