’Judging by Her Expression’ – Novak Djokovic Believes Daughter Tara Wasn’t Sold on His Wimbledon Victory Dance

Novak Djokovic has made an emotional admission about his children, Stefan and Tara, after his heartwarming effort to entertain them following his third-round win at Wimbledon. The Serb has been enjoying the support of his kids and his wife, Jelena, as he continues his quest to clinch his record-extending 25th Grand Slam title.

Following his first-round win at the grass-court Major, Djokovic was forced to stick with last year’s violin celebration because his daughter, Tara, hadn’t yet come up with a new routine. By the time he stepped onto Centre Court for his third-round battle against Arthur Rinderknech, however, the eight-year-old had choreographed a fresh celebration for her father.

After the Serb sealed his thrilling 7-5, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(4) victory, his son, Stefan, was seen cheering passionately in the stands. Moments later, Djokovic broke out into a dance, performing it while looking toward his daughter, who beamed with delight.

During his post-match press conference, Djokovic opened up about how much he enjoys hearing his children’s reactions during the match. He also revealed that he couldn’t wait to hear Tara’s verdict on the dance she devised, even though her expression suggested that she wasn’t particularly impressed.

“I made eye contact with my family, my children particularly that were always very vocal. I can hear their voices and they’re really giving their best to support daddy. Last night I spoke to my daughter and she showed me a couple dances from these teenage pop groups. We tried to work on the choreography. I don’t know. I can’t wait to go back home and ask her how I’ve done. Judging by her expression, it wasn’t super great but I try,” he said.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion added that it was a blessing to have his children in the stands and said he wanted to bring them happiness through his lighthearted on-court antics.

“This is my way of interacting with the children after the match and making them happy. These moments I try not to take for granted. They’re very rare and special moments,” he added. “Very blessed to be able to have my children watch me perform at Centre Court of Wimbledon for many years now. They’re aware of what’s happening. They follow. It’s a blessing to me.”

Novak Djokovic will hope to put on an even better performance for his daughter when he faces Roman Safiullin in the fourth round. If he advances, the Serb will take on either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon.
