If Alexandra Eala is making waves on the WTA Tour, Rafael Jodar is doing the same on the men’s side. The Spanish youngster has been one of the biggest breakout stars of the season, showcasing his talent on the tennis court while quickly winning over fans with his performances.

Jodar is currently enjoying an incredible run on the North American hard courts after reaching the final of the Mubadala D.C. Open, where he eventually lost to Taylor Fritz. At the ongoing Canadian Open in Montreal, the Spaniard has gone one step further by reaching the quarterfinals and, in the process, created yet another piece of history.

Can Rafael Jodar Continue His Historic Run?

Jodar has become just the third teenager since 1990 to reach at least three consecutive Masters 1000 quarterfinals, achieving the feat in Madrid, Rome, and now Montreal. The only two teenagers to accomplish the feat before him were Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz.

Standing between Jodar and a place in the semifinals is Frenchman Arthur Fils, a player he has already faced twice on tour. Fils got the better of Jodar in their first meeting at the Barcelona Open, but the Spaniard got his revenge most recently by defeating Fils in the second round of the Washington Open.

While this will be another tough challenge for Jodar, there is also a major ranking milestone within his reach. If he manages to win the Canadian Open, or even reach the final, the teenager will move closer to breaking into the ATP Top 10.
