The Texas Longhorns men’s tennis team continued marching in the NCAA Tournament today, getting a 4-0 win over the SMU Mustangs. The Longhorns cruised past Texas A&M-Corpus Cristi in Round 1, winning 4-0 with no hiccups and putting them into the second round for the 13th straight season. Today, it was a gritty doubles point and dominating single performances that led the Longhorns to the straightforward win.

The Longhorns moved to the singles portion needing to win just three out of six matches to move forward. They quickly gained control, breaking SMU service games in four of the six matches. No. 3 singles Oliver Ojakaar and No. 4 singles Abel Forger set the pace early, each winning their opening set 6-2 in dominating fashion.

No. 1 singles Gorzny, dropped his opening set 4-6 to Trevor Svajda. No. 5 singles Jonah Braswell was the final Longhorn to finish his opening set, falling 5-7.

Texas took leads in four matches into the second sets, putting them in prime position to move to the Round of 16. Marionneau, Forger and Ojakaar didn’t slow down, quickly getting breaks in the second set. Lucas Marionneau was the first to get over the line, winning his match 6-4, 6-1 over Noah McDonald and extending the lead to 2-0 Texas.
