Sebastian Korda pulls out of another Major ATP event after beating Carlos Alcaraz in Miami

Sebastian Korda has been out of action on the ATP Tour since his Miami Open run, where he pulled off the biggest win of his career.

Korda knocked out then-world number one Carlos Alcaraz in the third round of the ATP Masters 1000 event, coming through a tough three-setter against the Spaniard. The American’s victory came as part of a strong stretch on tour, which also saw him lift his third ATP title.

At the Delray Beach Open, Korda defeated players like Casper Ruud, Flavio Cobolli and Tommy Paul on his way to claiming the ATP 250 trophy.

But following Miami, the world number 40 has yet to feature during the clay season and has recently pulled out of another major tournament.

Despite having missed time earlier this year due to an injury suffered in January at an event in Auckland, there had been no official word regarding another setback for Korda. He had also initially signed up to play at an ATP Challenger event in Bordeaux, but did not end up playing.

Sebastian Korda pulls out of the 2026 Italian Open

After already missing Monte-Carlo and Madrid, Korda has now also decided to skip the Rome Masters, further extending his absence from the clay circuit.

As reported by Spazio Tennis, Korda won’t be appearing at this year’s Italian Open either, adding another tournament to his growing list of withdrawals.

Korda made the third round in Rome last season and was only set to defend 50 points this time around. Still, it’s another missed chance for him to get back into form before Roland-Garros.

He’s already missed out on defending the 110 points he earned across Monte-Carlo, Barcelona, and Madrid in 2025. It’s starting to put a dent in his ranking stability.

Korda will hope to return in time for Roland-Garros, where he reached the third round last year before losing to Frances Tiafoe.

Sebastian Korda’s standout run at Roland Garros

While Korda’s best Grand Slam result is a quarterfinal showing at the Australian Open, his most memorable run at the French Open came during his first appearance.

Korda reached the main draw in 2020 after coming through qualifying, picking up a first-round victory over Andreas Seppi.

He then got past fellow American John Isner, who was seeded 21st, before beating Pedro Martinez to reach the last 16.

That’s where he ran into Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard was not only a three-time defending champion at the time but also went on to win his fourth straight Roland Garros title that year.

Nadal made quick work of Korda in their matchup, winning 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 without much trouble.
