Tennis star Genie Bouchard lands ESPN gig for 2026 US Open

ESPN is expanding its tennis coverage for the 2026 U.S. Open with the addition of former Canada tennis star Genie Bouchard.

The 32-year-old hasn’t stepped onto the tennis court since 2025 after abruptly leaving the game. However, her return to the sport is coming soon as she transitions towards a potential new career.

The sports media giant revealed Thursday that Bouchard is joining its star-studded coverage for the final major of the year.

Bouchard’s top career highlight as a player came in 2014 when she reached the Wimbledon final after appearing in the Australian Open and French Open semifinals that same season.

ESPN’s tennis coverage has always featured an array of former stars like John McEnroe. That gives the network another popular figure for their Aug. 24 coverage of the U.S. Open as stars like Carlos Alcaraz take the court in Flushing, New York.

ESPN secures another notable tennis star

Since retiring from tennis, Bouchard’s dabbled in various areas of sport including becoming a pickleball professional. Bouchard joined the PPA Tour in Jan. 2024, joining other former tennis players in the new endeavor.

However, her passion for tennis remains firm as her role grows in the broadcasting community. Bouchard helped cover the French Open earlier this year for TNT Sports as a commentator.

Bouchard’s featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition on several occasions. Meanwhile, the tennis vet has also taken a major interest in the fashion realm over her years in the spotlight.

The Canadian boasts a massive social media following that includes over 2.2 million followers on Instagram.
