Novak Djokovic’s Children Stefan and Tara Steal the Spotlight at Wimbledon After Special Bedtime ’Exception’

Novak Djokovic gave his family plenty to cheer about after making a strong start to his Wimbledon campaign. Following the 24-time Grand Slam champion’s stellar victory, his children, Stefan and Tara, stole the spotlight with their passionate celebrations. Djokovic capped off the heartwarming scene by giving them a special mention after the match.

Chasing his 25th Grand Slam title and eighth Wimbledon crown, Djokovic locked horns with Wu Yibing in his opening match at the grass-court Major. The Serb took control early by clinching the opening set, but Wu battled back strongly in the second to draw level. Djokovic, however, raised his level to secure a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory after a 3-hour and 11-minute battle.

The occasion was made all the more special as Djokovic’s wife, Jelena, and their two children witnessed his win from his player’s box. As the 39-year-old celebrated his victory, his son, Stefan, beamed with pride and enthusiastically cheered him on from the stands. His daughter, Tara, was equally animated, passionately displaying her support.

Tara later stole the show with her reactions when Djokovic revealed that he had repeated last year’s violin celebration because she had yet to decide on the choreography for this year’s tournament. The Serb also relished the presence of his family before joking about his children staying up well past their bedtime, with his match ending at 10:21 p.m. BST.

“I actually used last year’s celebration. The violin. Because I’m still waiting. It’s a work in progress. She’s still thinking about the choreography. Maybe she’s gonna get inspired after tonight. Of course, having my family is a blessing for me, here to support me. To be this late even though it’s past bedtime, we’ll have to talk about that but I think it’s an exception tonight,” he said during his post-match interview.

Novak Djokovic will once again draw strength from the support of his family when he takes on Stefanos Tsitsipas in a blockbuster second-round showdown at Wimbledon. If the 24-time Grand Slam champion defeats Tsitsipas, he will face either Arthur Rinderknech or Martin Damm Jr. in the third round.
