Novak Djokovic returning to Cincinnati Open in 2026

The No. 5 tennis player in the world is returning to the Cincinnati Open.

Novak Djokovic will compete in the 2026 Cincinnati Open, the tournament announced on June 30. The 24-time Grand Slam champion is making his first appearance at the tournament since 2023.

“I’m happy to announce I’m coming to the Cincinnati Open this year,” Djokovic said in a video. “First time since 2023 when I played one of the best best-of-three finals at a Masters 1000 event of my career.”

Novak Djokovic, of Serbia, serves to Taylor Fritz, of the United States, during the quarterfinals of the Western & Southern Open at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio, on Friday, Aug.18, 2023.

Djokovic won his third Cincinnati Open title in his last appearance in 2023, defeating Carlos Alcaraz 5-7, 7-6 (7), 7-6 (4). That match set a tournament record of three hours, 49 minutes. The Serbian has a 45-12 overall record at the Cincinnati Open, and has been in the finals five times.

Djokovic, now 39, is still seeking his first title of 2026. He previously made the final at the Australian Open, falling to Alcaraz in four sets. The Cincinnati Open will provide a stiff test with the entire top 10 of the ATP World Rankings set to compete in the event.

The 2026 Cincinnati Open commences on Aug. 8, running through the finals on Aug. 23. The tournament will once again have an expanded field after fielding 96 men’s and women’s players in 2025. More information on the event, as well as tickets, can be found on the Cincinnati Open website.
