Novak Djokovic Enjoys Family Time With Kids Stefan and Tara in Montenegro After Canadian Open Withdrawal

Novak Djokovic is making the most of his post-Wimbledon break by making memories with his children, Stefan and Tara, during a trip to Montenegro. The getaway coincides with the stir caused by Djokovic and Jannik Sinner’s withdrawals from the Canadian Open, reigniting criticism of the packed tour schedule and the extended ATP Masters 1000 events.

Djokovic recently enjoyed the support of his wife, Jelena, and their children while competing at the Wimbledon Championships. Although the Serb produced a stellar campaign, which included a thrilling five-set win over Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals, his title bid came to an end against eventual champion Sinner in the semifinals.

Following his Wimbledon exit, the 24-time Grand Slam champion traveled to New York, where he attended Fanatics Fest and promoted his upcoming Prime Video documentary, “Novak Djokovic: The Wolf in Winter.”

Enjoying a well-deserved break after his off-court commitments, Djokovic has been exploring Montenegro with his son, Stefan, and daughter, Tara. The trio visited the Savina Monastery during their trip.

Djokovic was also spotted relaxing at the beach alongside his brother Djordje as the siblings soaked up the sun while enjoying the stunning scenery.

Djokovic’s decision to skip the Canadian Open in favor of spending time with his family comes as no surprise. During a recent appearance on “CBS Mornings,” he explained that he had deliberately scaled back his schedule to prioritize time with his loved ones.

“After I leave them, the absence, missing out on some important dates and events in their life… it’s hard. And she continues to support me to live my dream,” he said. “But I also want to balance it out now; that’s why I don’t play as much as I used to because I want to be the best husband, father, brother, son that I can possibly be.”

On the tennis front, Djokovic is set to form a blockbuster partnership with Aryna Sabalenka for the US Open mixed doubles event. The pairing will likely be especially exciting for Djokovic’s daughter, Tara, whom the 24-time Grand Slam champion has revealed is a huge Sabalenka fan.

“Sabalenka is her favourite. She only cares about Sabalenka. She keeps asking if she can go to her house again because she has a fridge full of açaí,” he told Serbian reporters at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships.

Before the US Open, Novak Djokovic is expected to compete at the Cincinnati Open, which gets underway on August 13. He will join a star-studded field at the ATP Masters 1000 event, featuring Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, and Taylor Fritz. Carlos Alcaraz is also reported to make his long-awaited return to the tour in Cincinnati.
