Nike tennis comes under a lot of criticism because aside from its attention to Naomi Osaka and to a lesser degree, Alexandra Eala, its focus is far less than on the days of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Serena Williamsâ dominance.
However, it finally woke up and gave us yesteryear vibes specifically in the response to Mirra Andreevaâs 2026 French Open maiden slam win and the return of Serena to the sport after nearly four years away.

Nike tennis had immediate response to Andreeva win
Match point was barely over when Andreevaâs team was donning Nike shirts commemorating her win.
The focal point of the shirt was a photo of Andreeva on the Paris clay with the caption: âFight beyond your years.â
This was genius and on point with Nike tennisâ in its heyday.

Serena has custom Nike tennis kits
While it is not a surprise that Serena has great looking custom Nike kits, the brand revealed a sneak peak of her grass court look along with a clever about her return.
We wonder how long Serena has really known when and how she was planning to return. The ad campaign and clothing were not developed in hours; days and months of work went into them.
A quick word about Adidas
Newly minted 2026 French Open menâs singles champion Alexander Zverev did not get the treatment from Adidas that Mirra Andreeva got from Nike.
That seems to be an oversight as well as how disheveled his black shirt looked during the match. I could not figure out if that was sweat, his drink, or what, but it was not the best look.
