Footage has emerged of Jessica Pegula appearing to criticise Mirra Andreeva after their WTA Finals practice session.
After Andreeva left their practice session early, Pegula was heard talking about the 2026 French Open champion. She reportedly described Andreeva as a ‘diva’ and suggested she needs to mature.
When the hot-mic moment went viral on social media, the WTA wiped all practice footage, including Pegula and Andreeva’s training session. With Andreeva and Pegula dominating the headlines for all the wrong reasons, now seems like a good time to look back at their head-to-head record so far.
Mirra Andreeva leads Jessica Pegula 2-1 in their head-to-head
Andreeva and Pegula have never played a singles match against each other, but they have met twice in doubles and once in mixed doubles. They played their first match last year in Qatar.
There, Andreeva and her partner Diana Shnaider took on Pegula and Ashlyn Krueger. The Americans won the first set before the Russian duo levelled the match, forcing a match tiebreak, which they won 10-7.

Fans can’t wait to see Pegula and Andreeva play each other now following the hot mic controversy, but what needs to happen for them to face off at this year’s WTA Finals in Indian Wells?
Placed in different groups, Andreeva and Pegula could first meet in the semi-finals. For that to happen, Pegula would need to win Group 1 with Andreeva finishing second in Group 2, or Pegula would need to finish second in Group 1 while Andreeva wins Group 2.

| 1 | Elena Rybakina | Kazakhstan | 4 (Australian Open, US Open, Stuttgart Open, Ningbo Open) |

They could also meet in the final, should both players finish second or first in their groups and win their semi-final matches. The match would be one of the most anticipated of this year’s WTA Finals, but only time will tell if it will come to fruition.
Pegula will begin her WTA Finals campaign on Sunday, November 8, when she takes on Coco Gauff, before Andreeva plays Elina Svitolina in her first match on Monday, November 9.
