Is Mirra Andreeva a better singles or doubles player

Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shanider won the 2026 Italian Open women’s doubles title.

This is the second WTA 1000 title for the pair who also won the 2025 Miami Open.

Not all singles tennis players are good at doubles and vice versa, but Andreeva excels at both. The question is which is she better at?

Andreeva’s career by the numbers

Andreeva, 19, won five singles titles, two at WTA 1000 tournaments, and three doubles titles with two at WTA 1000 tournaments.

Teamed with Shanider, she won a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Playing both may be ideal path for her right now

Andreeva has shown she can play well in both disciplines. In doubles, particularly with Shnaider, her personality shines. She seems more joyful on the court.

In singles, she can get negative on herself too quickly.

She may be like Coco Gauff who can play both very well and win Grand Slams in each discipline.

Or she may end up taking the Aryna Sabalenka path which is to win Grand Slams in doubles before focusing exclusively on singles. Barbora Krejcikova’s tennis journey is also similar to this.

Andreeva is young and presumably with a lot of years ahead of her on the WTA Tour. It is a good problem to have if people are pondering which she is best at when she is accomplished in both.
