FAIRFIELD â The week is filled with early-season showdowns for the Fairfield girls tennis team.
Before those showdowns arrive, the ninth-ranked (1A) Trojans flexed their muscle in their second meet of the season.
Fairfield’s reschuffled lineup produced dominant results throughout the Southeast Conference meet with Mount Pleasant on Monday. The Trojans dropped just three games in singles play and three more in doubles, rolling to a 9-0 win over the Panthers improving to 2-0 ahead of a battle with fellow conference hopeful Burlington on Thursday and the Tulip City Tussle in Pella on Saturday.
“It’s good to get a dual in before Thursday, because that is going to be a tough matchup with Burlington,” Fairfield head girls tennis coach Travis Dunkin said. “The girls looked pretty sharp only dropping six games. They continue to improve and get better every day.”
