French Open Women’s Quarterfinal Predictions Including Aryna Sabalenka vs Diana Shnaider

It should be an entertaining 11th day of action in the women’s singles draw at Roland Garros with two intriguing quarterfinals on the slate. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for both matches, as well as the action in the men’s singles, but who will secure their spot in the rarefied air of a Roland Garros semifinal?

French Open Quarterfinals Predictions

Aryna Sabalenka vs Diana Shnaider

Amanda: The highest seed left and the heavy favourite to win the tournament, Aryna Sabalenka hasn’t dropped a set yet, and Diana Shnaider likely doesn’t pose enough of a threat to end that streak. Shnaider was able to get past Madison Keys in a three-setter the fourth round, but Sabalenka does everything Keys can do, just with more consistency. Sabalenka should be able to continue her dominance here.

Prediction: Sabalenka in 2

Ilemona: Sabalenka has been dominant and relatively fresh, powering past opponents like Daria Kasatkina and Naomi Osaka with overwhelming power. Shnaider has been in strong form with good wins, including her solid performance against Oliynykova, bringing confidence and well-rounded clay skills. Sabalenka’s raw power and recent level still make her very difficult to contain on this surface.

Prediction: Sabalenka in 2

Ateet: Sabalenka played her best match of the tournament to defeat Osaka in straight sets. The first set was close, and Sabalenka needed to bring her best tennis. Shnaider will fight for every point, but Sabalenka’s firepower and precision will prove to be too much for the Russian player.

Prediction: Sabalenka in 2

Jordan: Sabalenka has been the overwhelming title favorite since Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina’s exits. Shnaider played very well in the opening three rounds, but that level almost certainly would not be good enough against the world #1. Sabalenka should win this, and it would be surprising if she did not go on to secure a first French Open title.

Prediction: Sabalenka in 2

Cizu: Sabalenka looks like a woman on a mission in a competition that has opened up completely for her to win. Schnaider has done well to get this far, and in her previous match, she defeated Madison Keys, who herself is a big hitter. The issue is that Sabalenka is yet to drop even a set, and is more than just a big hitter. Schnaider can creat problems for opponents a lefty who is crafty and constructs points to devastating effect. The match should be competitive, but it’s still hard to look past the world #1.

Prediction: Sabalenka in 2

Anna Kalinskaya vs Maja Chwalinska

Amanda: Maja Chwalinska’s dream run has only gotten more and more monumental as she’s made her first-ever Grand Slam quarterfinal at the French Open. The matchup against Anna Kalinskaya will be her toughest test yet, and with Kalinskaya’s recent results, the match will likely go to three sets. Although Chwalinska has been full of surprises this week, Kalinskaya has been extremely composed when she’s needed to be and is in an excellent position to make her first Grand Slam semifinal.

Prediction: Kalinskaya in 3

Ilemona: Kalinskaya has advanced relatively efficiently at the French Open with aggressive baseline play meaning she should have fresher legs. Chwalinska has been a big story with impressive upsets and mental toughness, including her comeback win over Sakkari. Kalinskaya’s flat, powerful game should suit the conditions well against Chwalinska’s momentum in this quarterfinal clash.

Prediction: Kalinskaya in 3

Ateet: Kalinskaya defeated Anastasia Potapova in a deciding-set tiebreak and is into her first French Open quarterfinal. It was a messy match for both players, but Kalinskaya was more composed and played her best tennis in the tiebreak. Chwalinska’s amazing run continues as she defeated Diane Parry in straight sets. I think her unorthodox game can get the better of Kalinskaya as well.

Prediction: Chwalinska in 3

Jordan: Kalinskaya will be the aggressor in this match against the best defender left in the women’s draw. Chwalinska has done a remarkable job of frustrating her opponents by being gritty and routinely winning points from behind in the rallies. I would back Kalinskaya on a hard court, but feel Chwalinska’s defensive skills have the edge on clay.

Prediction: Chwalinska in 3

Cizu: An interesting match-up involving a player that few would have expected to make it this far against a player no one really expected to make it this far. It, however, sets up an interesting battle that really could go either way. The baseline power of Kalinskaya against the lefty court craft of Chwalinska. A tough call, but I’ll side with Kalinskaya to come through

Prediction: Kalinskaya in 3
