Former Vol Mark Wallner eliminated in 2026 Wimbledon first round

The first round of men’s doubles competition took place Wednesday at the 139th edition of the Wimbledon Championships in London, England.

Former Vol Mark Wallner and doubles partner Jakob Schnaitter competed on Court 11. Rinky Hijikata and Marc Polmans defeated Wallner and Schnaitter, 6-7 (7-1), 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (10-7).

The former Vol and Schnaitter totaled 14 aces and four double faults. The duo also recorded a 72 first serve percentage, 91 service points won and 18 service games won.

Wallner played at Tennessee from 2019-22 after transferring from Temple. While playing for the Vols, he had a 28-14 singles record and went 58-24 in doubles competition. Wallner’s highest singles ranking was No. 58 on Dec. 8, 2021. His highest doubles ranking was No. 67 with Andrew Rogers on March 30, 2021.

The former Vol was named to the 2022 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll and the 2022 ITA Indoor Championship All-Tournament Team (No. 3 doubles).

Wallner is from Munich, Germany and IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
