Women

Oregon comes into the 2026-2027 year with a relatively young team (only Tilde Jagare is listed as a senior) that returns the majority of their starters from the Spring 2026 team season. Competition started with the Duck invitational the weekend of October 2 through October 4. Individuals and pairs from Washington State, Gonzaga, and the University of Portland were hosted at the Student Tennis Center in Eugene. Over three days of competition the Ducks went 17-5 in singles and 7-4 in doubles matches. Jagare and freshman Montserrat Baruqui both went 3-0 in singles play while Patsy Daughters went 2-0 to pace the Ducks.

The very next week came the first chance to qualify for the ITA individual and pair championships at the Northwest Regionals in Stanford, CA. Oregon entered 4 singles players and 4 doubles pairs, all of whom advanced on Day 1. The pair of Hinata Furutani/Juliet Santitto made it as far as the semifinals as Tilde Jagare made it to the round of 16 in singles play. Though no Oregon players placed highly enough for automatic inclusion in ITA National Championship, these three will be at the Western Sectionals in Los Angeles starting this Thursday for another shot at qualifying. The rest of the team will remain in Eugene and close out Fall competition with another round of the Duck Invitational Friday through Sunday.

Men

The men’s team has seen a near complete roster overhaul since last Spring. Only 5th years Matthew Burton and Russell Soohoo return from the regular rotation as upperclassmen, along with Ohio State transfer Declan Galligan. The men began fall competition at the San Diego Veterans Tennis Classic against Santa Clara, UC Irvine, and the US Naval Academy. The transfer Galligan led the way with two singles victories as well as pairing with Christopher Rodi to post two doubles wins.

At ITA Regionals from Oct 15 – Oct 20 in Seattle, the men advanced 4 singles players to the round of 32, but none further. In doubles play Galligan and Dan Hughes managed to make it all the way to Sunday competition before being eliminated (though the sibling pair of Matthew and Cameron Burton withdrew due to injury rather than a loss). Sectionals begins this week at Arizona State but currently the ITA website does not have the participants listed.

The latest competition was the Duck Invite in Eugene from October 23-25 against Gonzaga, University of Portland, and Portland State. Results were mixed, with no individuals getting through the weekend unscathed. The pairing of Russell Soohoo and Dan Hughes went 2-0, however.

Barring any Ducks advancing in Sectionals, fall competition will wrap up for the men at the Gonzaga Fall Invite this weekend in Spokane, WA.
