Emma Raducanu has trained in a protective boot while on holiday as doubts grow over her fitness for this monthâs US Open.
Raducanu, who withdrew from Wimbledon on the eve of her first-round match, is recovering from a grade-four stress fracture to her shin.
Posting an update on social media from her recovery in St Moritz, Switzerland, she appeared to still be wearing an orthopaedic boot as a precautionary measure.
In the post, a video showed Raducanu wearing the boot on her right foot while practising serves on a clay court against a stunning backdrop at Suvretta House, a five-star luxury resort in the Alpine town.
Raducanu posted other photos from her relaxing stay as well as others from a sailing trip. She accompanied the post with the caption: âBest reset ever!!â
On its website, Suvretta House says guests can enjoy panoramic mountain peaks while playing on one of its three clay courts. The most expensive suites at the resort, which include a lakeside view, cost up to ÂŁ2,567 per night.
Raducanu wore a similar orthopaedic boot in the days before her high-profile withdrawal from Wimbledon, although it is common for athletes to wear such removable devices when rehabbing stress injuries.
Her expected rehabilitation for this particular lower-leg issue could take as long as two months.
As the highest-ranked British woman, Raducanu is among five Britons, including Katie Boulter, Arthur Fery, Cam Norrie and Jan Choinski, who have direct entry into the main singles draws at the US Open, which starts on August 30.
Speculation over Raducanuâs participation at Flushing Meadows grew last week after she was not included in Britainâs Billie Jean King Cup squad for September.
This is the latest injury setback for Raducanu, whose seasons since her run to the US Open title as a qualifier in 2021 have been hampered by a spate of injuries.
Her regular fitness problems have severely depleted her time on court. Of the 21 matches she has played this season, five of those came during her career-best grass-court run to the final at Queenâs, where she lost in straight sets to Donna Vekic.
