“Couldn’t Be Prouder” – Alexander Zverev’s Girlfriend Sophia Thomalla Shares Emotional Message As German Receives World No. 1 Trophy In Paris

Alexander Zverev’s girlfriend Sophia Thomalla, the prominent German actress and model, shared an emotional message after Zverev received the World No. 1 trophy ahead of his Paris Masters campaign.

According to Thomalla, Zverev is fully deserving of the top ranking in men’s singles tennis, which he secured just days ago by defeating Tallon Griekspoor in Vienna. It’s worth noting that Zverev had already secured the year-end No. 1 ranking prior to his win over Griekspoor.

On Monday, Nov. 2, Zverev was presented the World No. 1 trophy by Andrea Gaudenzi, the ATP Chairman, and Cedric Pioline, the tournament director of the Paris Masters.

Subsequently, Thomalla, who has been dating the German tennis star since late 2020, took to her Instagram and shared a carousel post celebrating her boyfriend’s latest high-profile achievement in the sport. She captioned the post:

She also added separate captions to all of the subsequent pictures and videos in the post.

In terms of his tennis, Zverev suffered an upset in Vienna soon after securing his maiden ascent to the World No. 1 ranking.

Alexander Zverev was beaten in the Vienna Open semifinals by Alex de Minaur

In addition to helping him secure the No. 1 ranking, Zverev’s victory over Griekspoor in Vienna saw the German book a quarterfinal berth at the ATP 500 event. In the last eight, Zverev registered a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over Arthur Fery of Great Britain.

However, his Vienna campaign ended in the semifinals, with top 10 rival Alex de Minaur of Australia edging the German 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(4). The result once again led to scrutiny of Zverev’s No. 1 status, with many fans feeling that he has reached the summit of the rankings primarily because of rivals Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s injury issues.

At the Paris Masters, Zverev is the top seed and has received a first-round bye. He is set to get his campaign at the year’s last Masters 1000 event underway with a tricky second-round match against former No. 5 Lorenzo Musetti of Italy. Musetti, currently ranked No. 24 and unseeded in Paris, defeated another former top 10 star, Hubert Hurkacz, in the first round. Concerningly for Zverev, the Italian leads their head-to-head 3-2.
