Can Coco Gauff match Jasmine Paoliniâs 2025 results and win both the singles and doubles titles at the this yearâs Italian Open?
Gauff has found her clay court form in Rome. She won some hard fought matches against top players, most recently Mirra Andreeva.
In addition, she partnered with Caty McNally in doubles for the first time in years. The McCoco duo have picked up right where they left off, playing great doubles tennis.

Gauffâs main threats
Gauff faces Sorana Cirstea in the singles semifinals. The winner of that match will face the winner of the Iga Swiatek and Elina Svitolina semifinal.
Cirstea is having the tournament of her life, and she has nothing to lose. Gauff will have the pressure as the favorite, but Cirstea has already beaten Aryna Sabalenka in Rome.
Gauff has never lost to Cirstea in three previous meetings, two happened this year in Miami and Madrid, and one at the 2020 Australian Open. All matches went three sets.

Swiatek and Svitolina have won the Italian Open five times out of the past nine years. Both are in great form, but the scariest of the two is Swiatek who is reaping the benefits of training with Rafael Nadal before the clay court season.
As for doubles, anything can happen especially on clay, but McCoco found winning form quickly despite the years apart. Jessica Pegula and Storm Hunter, and Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider are still in the draw as are the Sunshine Double and Madrid Open champions Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend.
