Spain secured its ticket to the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 2-0 win over France on Tuesday, and the tennis world was thrilled with the result.

Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, and Paula Badosa led the congratulations as La Roja continued its excellent run and reached its first World Cup final since winning the famous trophy in 2010.

Goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro, either side of half-time, helped Spain defeat France in the World Cup semifinals in Dallas. The resilient Spanish defense kept the star-studded France attack at bay, with Kylian Mbappe, Michael Olise, and Ousmane Dembélé all failing to make an impact.

As Spain secured its berth in the World Cup final, Nadal sent a congratulatory message to the team. The 22-time Grand Slam champion is a big soccer fan and supports Real Madrid.

“To the World Cup final! Congratulations, Spanish Football,” he wrote on X (translated from Spanish).

Alcaraz also shared his excitement at Spain’s momentous win over France. The seven-time Grand Slam champion, who is currently sidelined with a wrist injury, expressed his happiness on social media.

“Viva España [Long live Spain],” Alcaraz wrote.

Tennis’ breakout star Rafael Jódar was at the Dallas Stadium to cheer for Spain in the World Cup semifinals. The 19-year-old Madrid native shared his support for Spain on his Instagram story ahead of kick-off.

Badosa looked ahead to the World Cup semifinals following her win over Anhelina Kalinina at the Iași Open on Tuesday.

“I hope you’re supporting Spain. I’ll have to recover fast and watch the match and support. Hopefully, we have an amazing day and we get the win,” she said during her post-match interview.

After the match, Badosa shared her excitement at Spain’s impressive performance on Instagram.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina also posted his delight at Spain’s victory on Tuesday. He shared a hopeful message about the Spanish national team adding a second star to its crest, having won the World Cup for the first time in 2010.

The impressive win over France means Spain will play in the World Cup final in New York on Sunday. The other finalist will be determined on Wednesday when England takes on Lionel Messi and Argentina in the second semifinal.
