Carlos Alcaraz continues unbeaten ATP 500 tournament streak with Vienna Open win

The tennis world missed Carlos Alcaraz while he was out for four months earlier this year. Since returning to the US Open, Alcaraz has gained his form and confidence. What hasn’t changed is his perfect record at ATP 500 tournaments.

At the Vienna Open (Erste Bank Open), Alcaraz won his fifth straight ATP 500 event. The streak began last year at Queen’s Club.

Alcaraz also continued a winning streak in his head-to-head matchup against Alex de Minaur. With the 6-1, 6-4 win in the finals, Alcaraz is 7-0 against the Aussie.

At 23, Alcaraz won his 28th ATP title in Vienna. At top form and in good health, he is difficult to beat. It seems only Jannik Sinner, who is unfortunately out for the rest of the 2026 season, has enjoyed consistent success against him.

He is ranked third all-time among Spaniards with the most ATP titles.

Rafael Nadal leads the pack with 92. Alcaraz also trails Manuel Orantes, who played in the 1960s and 70s. Orantes has 36 career ATP titles.

One tournament Alcaraz has never won is the ATP Finals. He will set his sights on trying to win that in Turin, Italy, when it begins in two weeks.

Our 2027 wish is for healthy Alcaraz & Sinner

This tennis season did not give us enough Alcaraz vs. Sinner matches. As Sinner prepares to return to the ATP Tour, reportedly at the Six Kings Slam on Dec. 27, we hope to see much more of this rivalry play out in real time.

Sinner won the one match they played in 2026 at Monte Carlo (ATP 1000 event) in April shortly before Alcaraz exited the tour with his wrist injury. Alcaraz has a small edge at 10-7 head-to-head.
