Sinner made history with his Italian Open triumph by becoming just the second man ever to complete the Career Golden Masters, joining Novak Djokovic.

The Italian has not lost a match since February, having won five tournaments in a row, all of which were ATP Masters 1000s.

He’ll now look to make it six straight at Roland Garros, the only Grand Slam he has yet to emerge victorious at.

Following his success in Rome, Sinner increased his tally of total weeks as world number one. Here is how many weeks he’s spent at number one compared to other former and current greats of the game:

Sinner will have a lot on his plate if he’s going to win it this year. His main challenge will be facing Carlos Alcaraz, who beat him in last year’s semi-final and went on to win his first-ever Grand Slam title there.

Sinner draws level with Edberg in world number one weeks

Sinner has now accumulated 72 weeks at world number one, a mark that ties him with Stefan Edberg for 11th place on the all-time list.

That total also puts him six weeks ahead of Carlos Alcaraz and into an elite company. Edberg, a six-time Grand Slam champion, is among the legends of the sport.

With his status as world number one already locked in until after Wimbledon, Sinner is set to pass Lleyton Hewitt’s 80-week total soon.

Moving further up the list will take some time, though. Andre Agassi’s 101 weeks is the next milestone.

At the top end of these records, Djokovic leads all players with 428 total weeks at number one. Roger Federer holds the record for most consecutive weeks at number one with an incredible run of 237 straight.

Jannik Sinner heads to Roland Garros as favourite to join exclusive Grand Slam club

Sinner goes into this year’s French Open as perhaps the clearest Grand Slam favourite in recent memory.

The path to victory looks more straightforward after Carlos Alcaraz pulled out and Alexander Zverev picked up an injury. Novak Djokovic may be his main obstacle in Paris.

If he wins, Sinner would become just the eighth man in the Open Era to complete a Career Grand Slam.

Carlos Alcaraz became the latest member of that group earlier this year by winning in Melbourne at age 22.

Besides Alcaraz, others who have achieved it since then include Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, Roy Emerson and Rod Laver.
