Iga Swiatek continues her build-up to Wimbledon this week at the WTA 500 Bad Homburg in Germany.

Elena Rybakina’s withdrawal has now made the Pole the top seed in the draw, having initially entered as one of the higher-ranked players.

Swiatek hasn’t played since Roland-Garros, where she reached the fourth round. This marks her first grass court tournament of the 2026 season, as she gets ready for another campaign at Wimbledon.

While she’ll be aiming to get comfortable on grass ahead of the Grand Slam, Swiatek hasn’t been given an easy path through Bad Homburg by any means.

Bad Homburg draw throws up early tests for Iga Swiatek

As the tournament’s top seed, Swiatek skips straight into the second round, where she’ll face either Emma Navarro or wildcard Eva Lys.

If she comes through that match, she could run into Linda Noskova, who’s coming off a strong showing after reaching the final in Berlin.

Swiatek may then have to take on fourth seed Karolina Muchova or Diana Shnaider – who recently beat world number one Aryna Sabalenka at Roland Garros.

If she gets all the way to the final, either second seed Mirra Andreeva – fresh off a French Open title – or third seed Elina Svitolina could be waiting for her on the other side of the net.

The tournament field is packed with quality too, featuring players like Iva Jovic, Naomi Osaka and Alex Eala as potential opponents along her path.

Bad Homburg presents Swiatek with a tough challenge

Swiatek will look to get her grass season up and running after setting the bar high last year when she won her first Wimbledon title.

Her dominance on the surface was clear early in that tournament, especially when she dismantled Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0 at the All England Club.

This season though, Swiatek is still searching for her first WTA title of the year and hasn’t quite found that same level of consistency yet in 2026.

She heads into Bad Homburg with a 21-10 record for the year and will be keen to put an end to her title drought this week.

But it won’t be straightforward. The draw is filled with quality players, many of whom are also looking to build momentum ahead of Wimbledon later this month.

Being top seed brings both expectation and pressure. Swiatek knows plenty of eyes will be on her in Germany as she aims to deliver a strong performance before heading to SW19.
