‘A Special Feeling’ – Novak Djokovic’s Wife Jelena Sends Jannik Sinner a Message After Wimbledon

Jannik Sinner successfully defended his Wimbledon men’s singles title on Sunday, coming from behind to defeat Alexander Zverev in four sets.

As the Italian celebrated his fifth Grand Slam title, he received a congratulatory message from Novak Djokovic’s wife, Jelena. The Serbian businesswoman hailed Sinner for winning back-to-back titles at SW19.

After an unexpected early exit at the French Open, Sinner found his groove once again at Wimbledon as he overcame a first-round scare to dominate proceedings. En route to a second-straight Wimbledon title, the 24-year-old claimed statement wins over Djokovic in the semifinals and Zverev in the final.

Sinner reflected on his campaign and thanked fans for their support in an Instagram post. “We did it again. Thank you all for the love and support,” Sinner captioned his post.

In the comments section, Jelena Djokovic heaped praise on Sinner for his special triumph as he joined her husband in an elite group of players to win back-to-back titles at Wimbledon.

“Bravo, Jannik! It’s a special feeling to win back-to-back,” Jelena wrote in the comments section.

Sinner became the 15th different player to win a Wimbledon singles back-to-back. Other players on this elite list include Rod Laver, Roger Federer, Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf, Serena and Venus Williams, Djokovic, and Carlos Alcaraz.

Djokovic achieved the feat on four occasions, successfully defending his Wimbledon men’s singles title in 2015, 2019, 2021 (after the 2020 gap) and 2022. The Serb was gunning for a record 25th Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon Championships this year but fell to Sinner in a one-sided semifinal.

Sinner then continued his stunning winning streak with a 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 victory against Zverev in the final and lifted his fifth Grand Slam title. The win also helped him extend his lead at the top of the ATP rankings. Sinner now finds himself 4,970 points clear of World No. 2 Zverev in the charts.

Both Sinner and Djokovic will now turn their attention to the US Open, the final Major of the year. The World No. 1 is expected to return to action at the Canadian Open, where he will look to continue his excellent run and win a seventh straight ATP Masters 1000 title. Barring a late withdrawal, Djokovic is also expected to play in Montreal.

Sinner was beaten by Carlos Alcaraz in last year’s US Open final, while Djokovic lost to the Spaniard in the semifinal.
