3 teenage WTA players next in line to win a Grand Slam

With 19-year-old Mirra Andreeva‘s maiden win at the 2026 French Open, we need to revise our list of the best teenage WTA players who could win a Grand Slam during their teen years.

Three female tennis stars top the list. One needs to win quickly as her teen years are ending soon.

1. Iva Jovic, 17, USA

Jovic, the 19th ranked WTA player, has shown tremendous poise and resilience. Patrick McEnroe believes that she could be the next American woman to win a Grand Slam, leapfrogging over higher ranked veteran Americans Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova.

2. Lilli Tagger, 18, Austria

Lilli Tagger celebrates winning her first-round match over Varvara Gracheva of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif., Thursday, March 5, 2026. Tagger, just 18-years-old, marked her first-ever WTA 1000 event win.

Tagger is a relatively new name in WTA tennis; however, she has a Grand Slam champion Italian coach in Francesca Schiavone on her team. A former French Open juniors champion, she is ranked 86th and has a one-handed backhand, a rarity on either the WTA or ATP Tour these days. Tagger transitioned from a two-handed to one-handed backhand six years ago. Because of Jasmine Paolini’s injury, Tagger played French Open doubles with Sara Errani.

3. Victoria Mboko, 19, Canada

Mboko, the current WTA World No. 9, is the best bet on this list, provided that her injury at the HSBC Championships is not serious. She won a WTA 1000 title last year, defeating Naomi Osaka on home soil (Canada Open). She will be 20 when the 2026 US Open gets underway so her last Grand Slam run as a teen will hopefully be at Wimbledon.
