Just under two months after their five-set epic at the US Open, Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton are set to renew their rivalry in the final of the Rolex Paris Masters.

The final Masters 1000 event of the 2026 ATP season has delivered a fitting championship matchup, with seven-time Major champion Alcaraz facing the world’s highest-ranked American on the ATP Paris indoor hard courts. As always, here is a complete match preview and guide on how to catch the action live.

Paris Masters 2026 Final: Carlos Alcaraz vs Ben Shelton

Match Preview

Although Shelton won the most recent and arguably most important meeting between these two players, Alcaraz still holds the head-to-head advantage, leading 3-1. One aspect that has consistently defined this matchup is how effectively Alcaraz can neutralise Shelton’s first serve.

The Spaniard is arguably the best returner in tennis right now, while Shelton possesses one of the most dangerous first serves on tour. This battle between two of the best in their respective departments gives the player who gains the upper hand a significant advantage throughout the match. At the US Open, Shelton benefited from courts that played faster than any other surface these two had met on. This allowed the American to dominate with his serve for extended periods while also taking more chances by adopting an aggressive approach on return.

However, that match also came against an Alcaraz who was playing just his fifth singles match back on tour following an almost five-month absence due to a wrist injury. The Spaniard’s serve was well below its usual standard that day, something that is unlikely to be the case in Paris. Despite that, the match was decided by a fifth-set tiebreak. Alcaraz remains the more confident and, overall, better player heading into this encounter, having also demonstrated considerable improvement on indoor courts over the past couple of weeks.

Shelton, however, enters this match with the confidence of knowing he can beat Alcaraz when it matters most. The surface also continues to suit him, particularly given that Paris is among the fastest courts on the ATP Tour calendar, which should further amplify the effectiveness of his serve. He knows that allowing Alcaraz to find his rhythm from the baseline would be a recipe for disaster, and unlike many of his opponents, Shelton has the confidence to consistently take the initiative against the Spaniard, even if his execution can occasionally let him down.

All these factors, combined with the physical presence both players bring to the court, should make for a fascinating final, one that could very well be decided by a few points.

Match Time and Where to Watch

The Last Word

With this being the final big tournament of the 2026 season outside the ATP Finals, excitement among both the players and spectators is expected to be high. Both competitors will be eager to finish their regular seasons on a strong note and build momentum, while also gaining whatever psychological edge they can ahead of a potential rematch in Turin at the ATP Finals later this month.

The two players are currently ranked No. 3 and No. 4 in the world, setting the stage for what could be a blockbuster conclusion to the Rolex Paris Masters. Alcaraz will undoubtedly be looking for revenge following his US Open defeat, while Shelton will be motivated to prove that victory was no one-off. With so many storylines surrounding this encounter, who do you think will emerge victorious in Paris on championship Sunday?
