Jannik Sinner heads into Wimbledon as the odds-on favourite, a position he also held before the start of Roland Garros.
However, things didnât go as planned in Paris. Sinner was knocked out in the second round by Juan Manuel Cerundolo.
He had taken a two-set lead but ended up losing in five sets, with the Italian citing the extreme heat as a major factor.
Sinner hasnât entered any official warm-up tournaments for Wimbledon but will participate in the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic exhibition at The Hurlingham Club.
His prospects on grass have drawn comment from Patrick Mouratoglou, who previously coached Serena Williams during her career.
Patrick Mouratoglou shares his thoughts on Jannik Sinner ahead of Wimbledon
Speaking in a video posted to Instagram, Mouratoglou highlighted Sinnerâs strong position, noting: âFor 10 years [Novak] Djokovic hasnât lost in Wimbledon against somebody other than Alcaraz or Sinner.â
âExcept maybe 2017, but he retired during the match. Thatâs crazy, no? Alcaraz is out, and Sinner is the huge favourite for Wimbledon. I think the level he is playing at the moment is way above the rest.â
âThere is a little extra for Novak, probably grass is his best surface. You donât play as many long rallies as on clay. You have more opportunities to close the rallies earlier.â
âAnd I would say now there is a little extra also for Sascha [Zverev]. He won Roland Garros. I donât think that what happened at Roland Garros is going to affect Jannik Sinnerâs performance or Jannik Sinnerâs confidence.â
âI mean, look at what heâs done since January, itâs a joke how many matches he won in a row. All those Masters 1000. So he will be the huge favourite.â
He added: âTo be the defending champion is always extra pressure, but I think that Jannik is really used to that kind of pressure. He [Sinner] is the huge favourite, and I think heâs in the best position to win the title.â
Sinner has still enjoyed a fantastic 2026 season despite that early exit at Roland Garros. The Italian currently holds five ATP Masters 1000 titles and sits atop the world rankings heading into Wimbledon.
