Jannik Sinnerâs rise through menâs tennis has been remarkable, and at just 24, he is already putting together a career that stands out.
The Italian starâs list of accomplishments continues to grow, and he doesnât look like slowing down anytime soon. His recent victory at the Italian Open saw him complete the Career Golden Masters â a feat only Novak Djokovic had managed before him.
With four Grand Slam titles already under his belt, Sinner heads into the French Open as the clear favourite to add another to his tally. Even with such a bright start, he remains careful about drawing comparisons between himself and Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Djokovic.
Jannik Sinner shares his reaction after winning the 2026 Italian Open
Speaking to Italian media outlet Nove, Sinner reflected on his Rome victory by saying: âWe won, all together. Iâve been in Rome for two weeks, and theyâve been two very long weeks. The crowd helped me so much.
âIn practice, it felt like we were playing a match because of how many there were each time. Iâm happy to give you all this joy; it was an incredible tournament.
He then addressed being compared to Federer, Nadal and Djokovic: âThe records? What Roger, Rafael and Novak did before me, and still do today, is incredible and Iâll never reach their level.
âTheyâve done amazing things for so many years. Iâm making my own history, trying to give it my all physically and mentally. Iâm always trying to find strength in the difficult moments Iâve had and will have.â
Sinner has an edge that the Big Three didnât enjoy
Carlos Alcarazâs injury absence has left Sinner with a clear path on the ATP Tour. Sinner hasnât lost since falling in the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open back in February. Heâs now on a run of five consecutive titles, all at ATP Masters 1000 events.
Itâs a type of run that Federer, Nadal and Djokovic never had an opportunity to enjoy. The competition is simply not what it used to be.
In their primes, the big three not only had to face each other but also contend with players like Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka and Juan Martin del Potro.
With no clear third contender on the horizon, Sinner and Alcaraz might have a real shot at reaching Grand Slam numbers similar to those of Djokovic, Federer and Nadal.
