Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian, and Coco Gauff celebrate Michael B. Jordan Oscar win

On March 16, Michael B. Jordan won an Oscar for his portrayal of twins in “Sinners,” and Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian, and Coco Gauff could not be happier for him.

Jordan has long been a friend to the tennis community, dating back to 2018 when he invited newly minted US Open champion Naomi Osaka to the “Creed II” premiere after learning from her appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that he was Osaka’s celebrity crush.

How Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian, and Coco Gauff reacted

Serena Williams posted video of her television screen as Jordan gave his acceptance speech with the two word comment “so happy.”

Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian has been talking up Jordan’s performance in the movie since he saw it last April.

After Jordan accepted the Oscar, Ohanian posted in his Instagram reel: “At last!!!! Michael B. Jordan. So happy for you dude.”

Coco Gauff shared how much she enjoyed the movie while watching it during last year’s clay court season. The Madrid theater was so crowded that she could not sit with her dad.

Like Williams and Ohanian, Gauff posted “deserved” in her Instagram reel with a photo of her television screen as Jordan made his acceptance speech.

Miami Open begins

The WTA Tour is in Miami for the Miami Open. Weeks ago, Serena Williams’ ex-coach Rick Macci speculated that she may make her return at the Miami Open, but the wildcards are out. Serena is not on the list, but Venus is.

Coco Gauff arrives on the practice courts during the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif., Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Coco Gauff is also a bit of a question mark for the tournament given her recent arm injury that forced her out of Indian Wells. The normally communicative Gauff has been quiet about the injury since announcing she would get an MRI on March 9. She is in the draw and scheduled to play her first match on March 19.
