EBENSBURG, Pa. – Strong collective play from across the lineup helped the Central Cambria girls tennis squad repeat as District 6 Class 2A team champions Thursday with a 5-0 victory over second-seeded Westmont Hilltop at Ebensburg Tennis Center.
The top-seeded Red Devils won their second straight district team title and sixth overall. Thursday was the 11th consecutive year Central Cambria and Westmont Hilltop met in the district team championship match. Central Cambria also won in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2024. Westmont Hilltop prevailed in 2015, 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2023 against its fellow Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference foes.
“We feel both teams have really good tennis players at each singles and doubles positions,” Central Cambria co-head coaches Jeff Livermore and Jim White said. “We know Westmont Hilltop is well-coached and has a great program in our district and knew it would be a difficult challenge. We are very proud of our team and how well they competed today to win the match.”

Central Cambria (15-4) senior Lydia Paskowski, this year’s District 6 Class 2A singles champion, defeated Westmont Hilltop (12-3) junior Isabella Parrish 6-2, 6-2. Junior Taryn Ream beat sophomore Lilly Evans 6-4, 7-5 in second singles. Junior Madison Dietz topped sophomore Sophia Dixon 6-4, 6-2 in third singles.
Central Cambria sophomore Kat Kubat and freshman Ireland DeBalli defeated senior Caridy Arnold and junior Anne Dill 6-4, 6-2 in first doubles. Sophomores Daisy Smith and Chloe Sandoval beat seniors Addison Arnold and Allison Buettner 7-5, 7-5 in a tightly contested second doubles match.
“We just ended up on the wrong side of some really close sets,” Westmont Hilltop coach Dan Fregly said. “The final score doesn’t indicate how competitive some of the matches really were.
“I give a lot of credit to the Central Cambria girls. They were better at the net than we were and they were more patient and precise. They have a great program.
“We both have young teams. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if we met again in next year’s finals.”
This was the 14th consecutive season Westmont Hilltop advanced to the district team final.
Central Cambria will face the District 3 runner-up Oct. 21 in the first round of the PIAA tournament.
