Novak Djokovic Picks Favourite Between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz for Wimbledon Final originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The days of the Big Three ruling every Grand Slam are officially behind us, and tennis fans are getting a front-row seat to what’s shaping up to be the era of the Big Two. Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have spent the past couple of years proving they’re on another level and their budding rivalry means we’re seeing them square off in finals more and more.
Now, with Wimbledon’s biggest match just around the corner, all eyes are on who’ll take the crown this time. And when it comes to picking a favorite, seven-time Wimbledon champ Novak Djokovic didn’t hesitate to share who he’s backing.
When asked to make a prediction for the final, Novak said, “I think I will give a slight edge to Carlos as a favorite because of the two titles he’s won here & the way he’s playing and the confidence he has right now. But it’s just a slight advantage.”

It’s pretty wild to think this is the second time in just over a month that Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are squaring off in a Slam final. Just last month at the French Open, Sinner looked like he had it in the bag up two sets but ended up losing in what turned out to be the longest French Open final ever.
This time around, Sinner made it to the Wimbledon final by taking out Ben Shelton in the quarters and then Novak Djokovic in the semis, though he almost didn’t make it past the Round of 16 when he faced Grigor Dimitrov and an injury retirement saved his run.
Alcaraz, meanwhile, cruised through Cameron Norrie and Taylor Fritz to punch his ticket to another Wimbledon final. So, will it be déjà vu with Alcaraz taking another trophy home, or can Sinner get his revenge? We’ll find out soon enough!
