Nick Kyrgios took a moment to connect with his fans while driving recently, sharing a heartfelt message on his Instagram stories. With just a few days past his 30th birthday, the Australian star reflected on the outpouring of love he received from friends, family, and fans worldwide.
“Hey guys, couple days off to my birthday now, just getting into training and getting ready to head to Paris in about three weeks,” Kyrgios said. He went on to express his gratitude for the countless birthday messages he received, acknowledging that it had been almost impossible to respond to each one individually.
“I really appreciate the love and the support from all the fans, family, and friends that I’m yet to reply to. I really felt the love — the big 3-0. Thank you everyone,” he added.
Kyrgios, who has yet to play a single clay court tournament this season, surprised many by revealing his plans to travel to Paris. His announcement has sparked speculation that he is expecting to receive a wild card entry into the French Open, one of the few major tournaments where his participation has often been unpredictable.
We need to remind ourselves that he is not on the entry list of the Roland Garros and Roland Garros has in the past made questionable wild card choices. Simona Halep, who was a former champion here, and failed to receive a wild card during her comeback. Which raises the question as to why Kyrgios was informing his fans that he is training for Paris.

Known for his explosive talent and charismatic presence, Kyrgios has had an up-and-down relationship with the clay surface. However, his decision to begin training and gear up for Paris suggests a renewed focus and determination to make his mark at Roland Garros.
Fans are excited at the prospect of seeing Kyrgios back in action, especially after a long layoff from competition and his ongoing battles with injuries. Whether Roland Garros rewards him a wild card or not remains to be seen and if he does get one, there is an uproar expected amongst the tennis community. And if he does receive one, will he makes a deep run or simply brings his trademark flair to the tournament? Kyrgios’ return to Paris is sure to grab headlines and inject even more energy into the clay-court season.
