Naomi Osaka remains optimistic about her future in tennis, even as injuries have become a recurring issue for her.
She recently pulled out of both the Dubai Tennis Championships and the Qatar Open, two setbacks that came soon after she had to retire from the Australian Open.
Despite those setbacks, Osaka is determined to get back on track. At 28 years old, sheâs still focused on adding more titles to her collection before calling it a day.
Why another Grand Slam win is within reach for Osaka
Osaka deserves immense credit for what sheâs already achieved in her career, not to mention how sheâs managed to return from having a child and still play at a high level.
She may not have hit the same heights as before, but thereâs still hope she can make her mark again, especially when it matters most.
Even with injuries disrupting her rhythm, sheâs started the 2026 season with a 3-1 record and climbed back into the WTA top 20, currently sitting at 16th in the world.
Pushing for a fifth Grand Slam is a tall order, but it would be unwise to count out someone of Osakaâs calibre and experience.
She was looking strong in Melbourne earlier this yearâa place where sheâs had plenty of success beforeâhaving already won the Australian Open twice in her career.
Alongside those wins, she also has two US Open titles and seven WTA trophies overall. It wouldnât be surprising if that number grew soon either.
With all four of her major titles coming on hard courts, that surface remains her best bet for adding another. Both Australia and the US are strong possibilities given her track record there.
The immediate focus will be on getting fully fit again after injuries have limited her appearances so far this year. Indian Wells is next up on the scheduleâthe site where she claimed her first-ever WTA title back in 2018 as an unseeded 20-year-oldâso thereâs some positive history to build on too.
