Greek tennis star Maria Sakkari has been struggling since her comeback to the tour, after a lengthy injury hiatus. She is coming off two consecutive losses to Coco Gauff at the sunshine double in Indian Wells and Miami. She also lost early in Charleston to the Chinese top seed QinWen Zheng.

As she struggles to find herself after her injury, she did not hesitate to send her wishes to another player who has been making the long journey back since his injury- the South Korean sensation Hyeon Chung. Sakkari went on to say that Chung was one of her favorite players, and that she was expecting to see him back at the flushing meadows during the US Open. She posted hers comments on Instagram as seen in the tweet below

Hyeon Chung is currently competing at the challenger’s tournament in South Korea. He recently showed encouraging signs after winning his second challengers title and racking up consecutive wins after a long time.

Hyeon Chung, for those who do not know, made a name for himself at the Australian open, where he stunned Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic, after defeating them in consecutive matches. However, his persistent chronic back injuries have marred his career with long breaks and he is yet to return to his true prowess.

If the results of the recent times indicate anything, it is that Chung looks like he is finally finding his groove and is poised to appear at the qualifiers of the US open. Fans have well and truly missed him on the ATP tour, and eagerly await his return.
