Jessica Pegula calls out WTA for photoshopping her picture

Jessica Pegula took a moment out of her preparation for the WTA 1000 Dubai Duty Free Championships final on Saturday against Elina Svitolina to call out the WTA for an obvious photoshop job on her photo.

Pegula, 31, advanced to her first career Dubai final with an impressive come from behind win over fellow American Amanda Anisimova. Jessica Pegula has made it to the semifinals of every tournament she entered since last year’s US Open.

She will be the more rested of the two players as 2017 and 2018 Dubai champion Elina Svitolina needed three hours to defeat Coco Gauff in the second semifinal of the day.

What Jessica Pegula said about her photoshopped WTA photo

The WTA posted side-by-side photos of Pegula and Svitolina to hype Saturday’s final.

The always outspoken Pegula found a way to use humor to point out the egregious error.

Pegula wrote: “Thank you for giving me the waist of my dreams but I think pieces of my arm are also missing (laughter emoji) not sure what happened here.”

The WTA has since removed the post.

One savvy X/Twitter user pointed out that Jessica Pegula’s black Adidas kit actually had a white stripe at the waist, and it was erroneously eliminated.

One of Pegula’s The Players Box podcast co-hosts Jennifer Brady added: “HAHAHAHA the waist of your dreams (skull emoji)”

In addition to her singles success in Dubai, Pegula, partnered with Mexican tennis player Giuliana Olmos, advanced to the Dubai doubles quarterfinals before losing in the deciding tiebreaker to Luisa Stefani and Gabriela Dabrowski. Stefani and Dabrowski will play in the final against Vera Zvonareva and Laura Siegemund.
