Iowa State tennis fell in a heartbreaker to Big 12 foe Houston Sunday afternoon.  The Cyclones lost to the Cougars by a score of 4-3.  The win would have been the first win over a ranked team this year.  Houston was ranked No. 40 at the time of the meet.  The loss came days after a loss at home to No. 19 Central Florida in Big 12 play.

The Cyclones will now head to Arizona for two meets, one each at Arizona in Tucson on Friday and at Arizona State on Sunday.  The following week will see the Cyclones return home when they host Cincinnati on April 3 and West Virginia on April 5.

The Cyclones scored their first doubles point since mid-February against Illinois.  The doubles team of Julia Camblor and Stanislava Shulzhenko won 6-4 over their Houston foes and the Cyclone doubles team of Alicia Dale and Gabriella Kellner won 6-4 over their Houston foes.

In singles action, Ashlee Narker got her first victory of the season beating Chems Doha Zeghlouli 6-3, 6-4.  Stanislava Shulzhenko beat Iza Sepa in three sets.  Shulzhenko lost the first set 6-1, but won the last two by scores of 6-2 and 6-4 to claim the match.

On Friday, March 20, the Cyclones fell 4-0 to the University of Central Florida in the first of two conference meets to end the week.  The match was called early with the Knights winning 4-0.  The loss for Iowa State extended their losing streak to nine matches.
