A reporter at Wimbledon is getting ripped for an “inappropriate” question to female tennis star Emma Raducanu. 

Raducanu, who lost in straight sets to world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the third round, has been linked to a couple of male tennis stars. Most notably, some believe that she and No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz are an item.

She’s denying it, though.

“I’ve known him for years. Wimbledon 2021 was the first time I started getting to know him, and I had a good run there and then also again in the U.S. Open in 2021,” she said.

“We have a good relationship still. He’s obviously overtaken me a lot, but it’s nice that we have that from a while ago,” she added. “I think for all of us, we really kind of value those connections that we had from when we were young because when you become a bit more known or a bit more successful, you just find yourself reverting back to people you knew from a young age because you’re like, that’s a real genuine connection.

“Because it becomes very busy and you have a lot more friends but the ones that you’ve known for a long time mean a lot more to you.”

Alcaraz maintains that he’s single, too.

“No, I am single. I am looking for someone. It can be difficult as a tennis player to meet the right person because you are traveling all the time,” the five-time Grand Slam champion said.

Raducanu has been linked to other male tennis players, too, including Britain’s Cam Norrie.

One reporter decided to ask Norrie if he was dating Raducanu.

“Apart from everyone here loving tennis, some of the gossip has been about who Emma Raducanu is dating. Can I ask if you’re dating her? Can we get to the bottom of this please?” the reporter asked.

Norrie was clearly stunned by the question.

“Sorry?” he replied.

“I’m trying to find out who’s dating Emma Raducanu.. It seems to be going around all the men’s singles. I was wondering if you’re dating her, please?” the reporter said.

“I’m not. No. You can ask her though,” he replied.

Whoever asked Cam Norrie this question in the Wimbledon official post match conference should have their accreditation revoked immediately.

It’s understandable for people to be interested in who star athletes are dating, but a line of questioning like that at a Grand Slam tournament feels incredibly inappropriate and distasteful.

Should the reporter have their credential revoked?
