Iga Swiatek parted ways with Wim Fissette after the Miami Open earlier this year.
Several names were linked with the role, but Swiatek appears to have already chosen her next coach.
Reports claim Iga Swiatek is training with Francisco Roig in Spain
Francisco Roig was linked to the job last week, and now French outlet LâEquipe has backed up those reports.
The move was first mentioned by Polish media, with Swiatek reportedly heading to Rafael Nadalâs academy in Manacor to start a trial period with Roig.
LâEquipe also noted that the information appeared in the Belgian publication Jeu Set et Podcast, which they have since verified.
Roig was most recently seen on the WTA Tour alongside Emma Raducanu. Their partnership lasted six months before coming to an end in January. He then made a switch over to the ATP Tour, working with French player Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. With Mpetshi Perricard dropping his last two matches, moving over to Swiatekâs camp would have been an easy sell for him.
And why not? Swiatek is a six-time Grand Slam winner and a former world No 1 who sits at No 3 in the rankings as of July 8th. She will be hoping her new coach can help her climb back into the top spot and win more major titles.
From Wimbledon success to Miami struggles: The Iga Swiatek/Wim Fissette timeline
Swiatek was asked during an interview when she first realised she needed a new direction.
âIt was not a decision made in Miami; it was a longer process.â
âDuring the tournament in Doha, I realized that I donât feel as good on the court as before.
âAfter the defeat to Maria Sakkari, we sat down and talked for a long time. We were wondering what to change and how to approach the next week so that I could get back to my solid game.
âAnd indeed, before Indian Wells, we made some steps forward. But when I took the whole thing into account, I came to the conclusion that I needed a change.â
Iga Swiatek expected to work with Francisco Roig in Stuttgart
Should everything go to plan with Roig, heâs expected to join her in Germany for the Stuttgart Open.
Swiatek has won the tournament twice before, but last year she exited in the quarterfinals.
This year, she enters as the fourth seed and will have plenty of competition. The field includes Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina and Coco Gauff â who are currently ranked as the worldâs top three players.
The 2026 Stuttgart Open gets underway on Monday 13 April.
