Hernan Casanova has been handed a suspension under the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program, temporarily halting his professional career.

The 32-year-old Argentine, who reached a career high singles ranking of 221 in October 2022, admitted to breaches relating to betting activity and failure to report a corrupt approach.

The ruling now sets a clear timeline for when he can return to the sport.

Hernan Casanova’s ban confirmed by ITIA

The sport’s integrity body formally announced the Hernan Casanova ban as the International Tennis Integrity Agency confirmed the Argentine accepted a suspension under the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program.

Casanova admitted to betting on numerous tennis matches between 2023 and 2025 in which he had no involvement. He also acknowledged a separate breach relating to failing to report a corrupt approach in 2024.

During his period of ineligibility, Casanova is prohibited from playing in, coaching at, or attending any event sanctioned by the sport’s governing bodies, including the ATP, ITF, and Grand Slam tournaments.

When will Hernan Casanova return to tennis?

The key question following the Hernan Casanova ban is when he will be eligible to compete again. The ITIA confirmed the exact terms of the suspension.

“Casanova accepted a sanction of two months, and a fine of $2,000 of which $1,500 is suspended. The sanction is effective from 4 February 2026, and will end on 3 April 2026,” the report revealed.

That timeline means Casanova will be free to return to professional tennis on 4 April 2026, assuming all conditions of the sanction are met.

While the suspension is relatively short compared to other corruption cases, it still marks a significant setback for a player attempting to maintain relevance on the Challenger circuit.

The episode also serves as another reminder of the strict enforcement surrounding betting and reporting obligations in tennis. Even indirect involvement carries consequences under the current integrity framework.
