Iga Swiatek parted ways with Wim Fissette following her second-round loss at the Miami Open.

Swiatek has yet to appoint a new coach, and early favourite Piotr Wozniacki has already stated he won’t be taking the position.

During an episode of ‘Off Court Cuts’, former US Open finalist Greg Rusedski was asked if he’d be interested in working with Swiatek.

Speaking on the Off Court Cuts podcast, Rusedski emphasized the importance of player initiative when forming a coaching partnership. “She has got to call me,” he said, explaining that a player-led approach ensures stronger commitment.

“You always want the player to call you, because then you get buy-in. If you are calling them, then you don’t always get the right buy-in.”

The 52-year-old, who has previously worked with players such as Kyle Edmund, did not dismiss the idea entirely, though there is no indication that Swiatek is considering him for the role at this stage.

Rusedski also spoke positively about Wim Fissette, describing him as “a great coach” with a strong track record alongside top players including Naomi Osaka and Johanna Konta.

“I’m sure Wim will be back on tour very soon because he is one of the best in the business,” he added, while noting that results since Swiatek’s Wimbledon triumph have not met expectations.

He also pointed to an area Swiatek could improve, suggesting she may be “a little bit too intense” at times. “She has got to learn how to go off court and relax and then bring the intensity on court,” he said, while backing her to find that balance.

With the clay season approaching, Rusedski stressed its importance for Swiatek, especially given comparisons to Rafael Nadal. Despite a dip in 2025, her record on clay remains dominant, and she is set to begin her campaign at the Stuttgart Open in April, where a strong field including Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and Elena Rybakina is expected.
