Sep. 9—OSAKIS — The Litchfield girls tennis chalked up another big non-conference victory Tuesday by beating Osakis, 6-1.
Litchfield swept singles play and took points at Nos. 1 and 3 singles.
The match of the day was at No. 1 singles, where the Dragons’ Isla Dille played the Silverstreaks’ Leah Maddock. Dille, ranked fourth in the state in Class A, beat the No. 5 Maddock 3-6, 6-4, 10-7.
All three doubles matches were close. At No. 1, Litchfield’s Elly Woelfel and Marcela Bruning beat Bella Weisser and Ava Drevlow 6-4, 1-6,6 -3.
Litchfield is ranked No. 4 in Class A.
The Dragons play Holy Family Catholic at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Litchfield.
Minnewaska won every point except at No. 1 singles to beat Yellow Medicine East at Glenwood.
YME’s Brianna Nelson beat Rachel Rankin 7-6 (3), 6-2 to earn the Sting’s lone point.
Every other victory was in straight sets for the Lakers.
Minnewaska plays at Melrose at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. YME hosts Sauk Centre at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Granite Falls.
Melrose swept singles and won at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles to defeat MACCRAY/Renville County West at Clara City.
At No. 2 doubles, MACCRAY/RCW’s Anna Janssen and Lilyanne Pauling beat the Dutchmen’s Hailey Hammond and Annabelle Lester 6-3, 7-6 (8), 6-4.
MACCRAY/RCW plays Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Madison.
All of Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg’s singles players were victorious at Sauk Centre.
Ava Oakes, Tara Beyer, Emily McGinty and Keala Carroll all won. Oakes, at No. 1 singles, swept Sauk Centre’s Anna Banegas 6-0, 6-0.
Lyla Oakes and Emmie Grussing earned a 6-3, 7-5 win over the Mainstreeters’ Aidenn Woeste and Gayle Weber at No. 3 doubles.
Benson/KMS hosts St. John’s Prep at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
