Gabriela Iler, Atticus Sloan are Akron-Area Athletes of Week for Sept. 15-21

Athletes from Revere and Woodridge high schools won the voting for the Akron-Area High School Athlete of the Week for Sept. 15-21.

Gabriela Iler from Revere is the girls winner and Atticus Sloan from Woodridge wins for the boys. Iler, who plays tennis, received 39.29% of the votes cast. Sloan, who runs cross country, received 49.88% of the votes cast.

A total of 14,180 votes were cast overall. Look for more on each athlete below.

Gabriela Iler, Revere tennis

Finished first in the first singles bracket in the Suburban League American Conference championship tournament. She defeated opponents from Kent Roosevelt (6-2, 6-0), Copley (6-0, 6-0) and Aurora (6-4, 7-5).

Atticus Sloan, Woodridge cross country

Led Division III Woodridge to the team title at the Division I-dominated Lancaster “Bob Reall” Invitational with a ninth-place finish in 16:03.63.
