Roger Federer and Carlos Alcaraz have both held the title of being the most Googled tennis player at various points in time.

Tennis Gazette readers chose Jannik Sinner over Alcaraz as their current favourite on the ATP Tour, showing just how much the Italian’s popularity has grown.

Meanwhile, Alexandra Eala has become a well-known name across the WTA Tour, especially after her impressive run at the Australian Open earlier this year.

While all these players are popular in their own right, it raises an interesting question: who has actually been the most searched player on Google each year since 2010?

According to Google search data, six players have held the title of most-searched tennis player since 2010.

That includes 2026, with Carlos Alcaraz riding a wave of attention after his landmark Australian Open win.

If current trends hold, Alcaraz could finish as the year’s most-searched player for a second time, having previously lost out to Jannik Sinner in 2025.

The last time Alcaraz led the search rankings was back in 2024 when he broke Novak Djokovic’s four-year run at the top.

No one has held the title more often than Djokovic, who has led the annual search charts seven times since 2010.

Serena Williams follows closely behind with five years at the top and stands out as the only WTA player to feature on this list.

A possible comeback from Williams is gaining traction at the moment. If it happens, there’s a good chance she’ll reclaim her spot atop these rankings in 2026.

Who was the last WTA player before Serena Williams to top Google searches?

Williams is the only woman to lead Google searches since 2010, and it’s been seven years since she first reached that mark in 2013.

Before her, Maria Sharapova was the last WTA player to hold that spot, topping the list back in 2006.

In fact, Sharapova led for three straight years from 2004 to 2006, a period that saw her win her first Grand Slam title by beating Williams in the 2004 Wimbledon final.

She followed that up with a second major title at the US Open in 2006. It’s unclear how close any current WTA players are to catching Alcaraz on Google these days, as ATP names continue to dominate search trends.
