Emma Raducanu, the only Briton in singles action on day four at Roland Garros, lost to defending champion Iga Swiatek 6-1, 6-2 to bring her 2025 clay-court campaign to a close.

Jack Draper leads the British charge on day five in a match against home favourite Gaël Monfils that has blockbuster-potential which is why it has been allocated the night-session slot on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Before the British men’s No 1 takes to the main show court in Paris, Katie Boulter, the British women’s No 1, takes on American seventh seed and reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys.

Like Draper, Jacob Fearnley faces a Frenchman in the shape of 22nd seed Ugo Humbert in what is sure to be an exciting encounter on Court Simonne-Mathieu.

On the outside courts, Sonay Kartal gets play under way on Court 11 against Marie Bouzkova from the Czech Republic. Cameron Norrie, who saw off 11th seed Daniil Medvedev in the first round, takes on Argentine Federico Gomez.

Day five also features the likes of Coco Gauff, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic in second-round action.

Djokovic’s humorous text from Murray after Geneva win

Novak Djokovic has revealed that Andy Murray sent him a humorous text message after his title-winning run in Geneva last week, reading “Now that you have a proper coach, you’re winning tournaments.”

Djokovic lifted the 100th tour-level title of his career on Saturday when he came back to overcame Hubert Hurcakz in three sets. Yet Murray was not present, as his short-lived coaching partnership with Djokovic had been dissolved 11 days earlier.

As to the manner of the ending, Djokovic insisted that it had been a mutual decision, with both men reaching the independent conclusion that their collaboration had gone far enough.

“We both wanted to have a [phone] call,” said Djokovic, who was accompanied by long-time Serbian collaborator Dusan Vemic in Geneva. “Actually, we both were on the same page. So it was not his initiative or my initiative. It was both of us coming together and saying, ‘I think we should stop here.’”

Murray began working with Djokovic in December, during a ten-day spell at Djokovic’s private court in Marbella, and then attended four tournaments alongside him: the Australian Open, Indian Wells, Miami and Madrid.

In that time, Djokovic defeated world No 2 Carlos Alcaraz in the Australian Open quarter-final and reached the final of Miami, but lost in the first round of the other two events.

“I will say it again,” Djokovic added. “Andy is just an amazing person. For him to give a shot to this player/coach relationship was really an incredible thing for tennis and for both of us. I was very privileged and honoured. I was enjoying myself very much regardless of the fact that we haven’t had maybe the success we both wanted.

“But I still think that I have learned things on the court with him. I have enjoyed my conversations with him about tennis, because he’s one of the most brilliant tennis-IQ guys out there. Whoever he decides to work with next, that player is going to be lucky, because he has definitely a lot to share, a lot of great insights. It just didn’t work out between us in terms of results.”
