Colorado state tennis live scores, updates for Fossil Ridge and all Fort Collins players

The Colorado high school boys tennis individual state championship run Oct. 16-18 across two classifications.

The Class 5A three-day tournament begins Oct. 16 at the Denver Tennis Park with first-round and quarterfinal action.

There are 23 players across 14 lines from Fort Collins schools in action, led by regional champion Fossil Ridge sending all seven lines to state.

Play begins each day at 9 a.m., weather permitting. Playback and semifinal matches will be held Oct 17. with champions and medalists determined Oct. 18.

Fossil Ridge has big contingent at state

Fossil Ridge enters the 5A bracket after winning the 5A Region 4 title and sending all seven lines to state for a sixth straight season.

The SaberCats were also the No. 5 team seed and made the semifinals before falling to No. 1 Regis Jesuit.

Here are the SaberCats’ opening-round matches in the individual state tournament brackets:

  • No. 1 singles: Cadell Webb vs. Jace Nakamura (Valor Christian)
  • No. 2 singles: Ian Miller vs. Adhrit Sundaresan (Fairview)
  • No. 3 singles: Keaton Thomas vs. Krish Wani (Grandview)
  • No. 1 doubles: Diego Pardina/Davis Samuelson vs. Noah Martin/Logan Dozon (Ralston Valley)
  • No. 2 doubles: Vedant Manakeshwar/Will Schuster vs. Ari Guerra/Dylan Kennamer (Golden)
  • No. 3 doubles: Braxton Phillips/Kasey Nelson vs. Luke Koeniger/Jacob Carpenter (ThunderRidge)
  • No. 4 doubles: Sully Kane/James Lillis vs. Taejoo Kim/Ethan Yohanes (Cherokee Trail)

Rocky Mountain returns to 5A state

After a shutout from state last year, Rocky Mountain roared back this fall.

The Lobos finished third in 5A Region 8 and qualified three lines for state. Rocky also made the team tournament as the No. 13 seed, bowing out to No. 4 Grandview in the opening round.

Here are the Lobos’ first-round matchups at 5A state:

  • No. 1 singles: Blake Livengood vs. Justin Son (Grandview)
  • No. 2 singles: Drake Solley vs. Ajay Chandran (Monarch)
  • No. 4 doubles: Ari Trevino/Ian Rose vs. John Bowman/Hank Harms (Heritage)

Fort Collins brings two doubles teams to state

The Lambkins qualified a pair of doubles lines following a third-place team finish in 5A Region 7 play.

Fort Collins was in the team tournament as a No. 15 seed, falling to No. 2 Cherry Creek in the opening round.

Here’s what the Lambkins first-day draws look like:

  • No. 2 doubles: Jack Gibbs/Miles Kalai vs. Jack Simon/Riley Elder (Valor Christian)
  • No. 3 doubles: Evan Dirvonas/Henry Melchert vs. Reid Stemberger/Deacon Brown (Valor Christian)

Poudre doubles duos make state debuts

The Impalas are also back at state after missing out on last year’s 5A individual tournament.

Here are Poudre’s opponents on day one:

  • No. 1 doubles: Luke Scott/Elliot Santolla vs. Michael Hilliard/Evan Heitman (ThunderRidge)
  • No. 2 doubles: Theodore Bridgers/Thomas Mack vs. Braden Watson/Indiana Lafaver (Lakewood)
