Tennis fans remember that Coco Gauff took a break from X in March.
She was active on other social media accounts and admitted during the Miami Open that she took some coaching advice from someone on Threads to finish points at the net.

Gauff never mentioned what prompted her X hiatus, whether it was self-imposed due to Lent or for mental health reasons. She returned to the app on Monday, April 6, and made a truthful admission.
What Gauff said
Gauff said that upon her return, she realized why she took the hiatus.
She did not specify what she saw that caused her to respond that way.
Gauff is not wrong because X can be a toxic place.
Gauffâs fans reacted
Many told her to leave X behind because it is not worth her time or mental health drain from reading the comments.
Others encouraged her to remember that social media can be used for good, and that she is loved by fans around the world.

Social media can be a dangerous place for professional athletes
In general, athletes embrace social media so that they can communicate directly with fans and do not have to rely on an intermediary reporter who could distort, misinterpret, or share information out of context.
However, fans, and often those who gamble on professional sports, share ugly words beyond the anonymity of their keyboards and screens.
Gauff has a good head on her shoulders and will make the right decision for herself, but we applaud her for taking the break and recognizing the obvious upon her return.
In the meantime, Gauff is busy preparing for her 2026 clay court debut at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart beginning April 13. The defending French Open champion will want to get into clay court form quickly before next monthâs Roland Garros title defense begins.
