Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz are among the tennis stars sharing their delight after Aryna Sabalenka confirmed her engagement to Georgios Frangulis.

Sabalenka confirmed the news on her social media, just before she is due to get underway at Indian Wells.

The WTA number one starts her tournament in the second round, where she will meet the winner of the match between Alycia Parks and Himeno Sakatsume.

But she has been busy celebrating big news off the court, with many of her fellow tennis players reacting to her engagement.

Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz congratulate Aryna Sabalenka on her engagement

Sabalenka shared footage of the proposal on her Instagram, writing the caption: “You & me, forever, 3.3.26.”

And quick to comment was Gauff, who said: “Congratulations,” while Alcaraz wrote: “Congratulatiooooons!”

Also sending messages of congratulations were Ben Shelton and Amanda Anisimova, with Novak Djokovic also sharing his love.

Sabalenka’s close friend Paula Badosa also shared her delight on the Instagram post, as did skiing legend Lindsay Vonn.

Can Aryna Sabalenka win Indian Wells?

It’s fair to suggest that Sabalenka may be somewhat distracted at Indian Wells, with wedding planning now on her agenda.

But she has shown time and again just how fierce a competitor she is when she really locks in, helped massively by her lethal serving.

That has been true of her 2026 season so far, from which she boasts an 11-1 win-loss record, reaching two finals.

Sabalenka won the first at the Brisbane International, but was then beaten by Elena Rybakina in the final of the Australian Open.

She’ll be very determined to bounce back and return to winning ways at Indian Wells, where the hard courts definitely suit her style.

All four of her Grand Slam titles have arrived on the surface, while she should have real motivation from being a two-time finalist in California but never a champion.

It won’t be an easy task given the star-studded entry list, but many signs point to a maiden Indian Wells title for the Belarusian superstar.
